Let’s be honest: keeping Krones Contiform machines running is expensive. Especially when you look at the bill for OEM parts. It feels like a tax just for wanting your equipment to work. That’s why we built our own IR heating modules. They’re designed to be simple drop-in replacements. You get the same factory specs, but you stop overpaying for the name on the box. Getting the heat right With PET blowing, it’s all about balance. You need to hit the preform wall with exactly the right amount of energy without scorching the neck. We spec our lamps for high wattage and specific voltages so the heat flux keeps up with your cycle time. If you’re running high-speed lines, you need that rapid ramp-up. It’s the only way to keep pace. But here’s a tip: if you’re pushing more heat, your ventilation and cooling blowers have to be spotless. If your airflow is choked, those lamps will burn out way faster than they should. The nitty-gritty stuff We use high-purity quartz glass with a special coating. Why? Because it shifts the emission spectrum. Instead of the IR energy bouncing off the plastic, it actually sinks in. Then there are the connectors—usually R7s or Sk15. We use heavy-duty contacts because thermal expansion is a real pain. Nobody wants to deal with arcing or loose fits after a few hundred cycles. It just works. Putting them to work The best part is that these modules fit right into your existing Contiform oven. No rewiring the cabinet. No messing around with lamp holders. You just swap them out. Since we calibrate the electrical load and spectral output, your heating profile stays exactly the same. You still get that consistent wall thickness in every bottle, but your cost-per-bottle actually goes down. It’s a much easier way to protect your margins.
